Well, I really enjoyed that.
I didn't guess the ending. I was so far off, I didn't see it coming. It was cool to be surprised and I loved the explanations to all the questions. The only threads left hanging were the futures of Cormoran and Robin, which is obvious since this is supposed to be a new series.
I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I do love slow-burning stories, and I think Rowling/Galbraith shines with those.
I'll surely read the next one. ...more

I LOVED THIS BOOK! (And as a disclaimer I knew that the author was J.K. Rowling when I decided to read it.)
Ok, so I love Rowling, obviously because of Harry Potter.
I didn't like A Casual Vacancy, it just did nothing for me.
I was a little worried when I got The Cuckoo's Calling from the library that I might be disappointed again, but I was not.
This is a great detective novel. I never really figured out who the killer was until just before it was revealed and that is what I love in a crime nove ...more

This was really a great surprise for me. I am not a Harry Potter fan and the first adult novel by JK Rowling (Casual Vacancy) did not blow me away although I felt compelled to finish it.
I was not sure if I should be giving it another shot, maybe JK Rowling just wasn't for me. But I love detective novels, so I decided to give it another go. And The Cuckoo's Calling hit the right spot at the right moment. I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery.
