Not nearly as good as Catching Fire was. I have to side with the majority on this. While I still really liked it, I feel like there are so many unanswered questions and things that were never given enough attention.

This book is even darker than books 1 and 2. It drives home the horrendous effects that the Hunger Games and the control of Snow had on our characters.

I feel like the way Panem ends up is SLOPPY. And of course I can't discuss this without spoilers, so I'll chuck them behin 4.5/5 (4/5?)

But even so, there were so many things I loved about this book.

The Hanging Tree. The Tomorrow, When the War Began feel. The Remember who the enemy is theme still runs undercurrent. When old characters came back, characters you thought had died. I liked the structural consistencies (Prim book 1, Prim book 3; Buttercup, the cat; the Games are in all 3 books). The darkness. The vividness of Collins'/Katniss' descriptions. And it remained suspenseful through to the end. The intense exchanges between Katniss and Peeta. The real sense of danger is present from start to finish. I expect to bawl my eyes out during the movie(s?).

Thank you Suzanne Collins. Now write a better, more substantial ending. ...more

Ah. Mockingjay. Yang ditunggu-tunggu dan - news flash - banyak yang kecewa dengan eksekusi ceritanya.

Jujur, pertama kali baca Mockingjay, gw sampe lupa ngambil napas beberapa kali karena cerita di buku ini so freakin intense. Dan gelapnya. Dan galaunya. Dan beneran bikin depresi. Yeah, depresi, itu kata yang tepat.

Kita diajak kenal sama beberapa tokoh, sayang sama mereka, tau mereka dan ngeliat apa yang terjadi sama mereka di Mockingjay rasanya...rasanya kaya ditampar realita. Mungkin itu juga Ah. Mockingjay. Yang ditunggu-tunggu dan - news flash - banyak yang kecewa dengan eksekusi ceritanya.

Mungkin itu juga tujuan Ms Collins, nyadarin kita kalo bahkan di sebuah buku cerita khayalan fiktif pun, ga semuanya bisa didapetin dan - voila! - happy end. Not that easy, sister!

Yeah, sesuai dengan yang gw bilang sebelumnya, buku ini bikin depresi. Kenapa? menurut gw karena Katniss sendiri ngerasa overload. Di buku ini Katniss emang lebih sering galau, bahkan dia sendiri mengakui kalo otaknya udah ga beres, kalo dia udah separuh gila. Who can blame her?

Gw harus ngebaca buku ini 2 kali buat beneran nerima 'kenyataannya'. Pas baca pertama gw bad mood selama beberapa minggu (yeah, gw emang gitu. Books affect my mood. True Story). Pas gw baca ulang, gw baru
ngerti.

Kenyataan emang kaya gini. Ga selamanya indah, ga selamanya sesuai dengan keinginan. People come and people go. Orang yang kita kira the one, ternyata harus pergi untuk hal lain dan kita sadar bahwa they're not the one at all. Kematian pasti datang. Tapi kehidupan selalu ada untuk dilanjutkan.

Intinya, badai pasti berlalu lah, tapi bekasnya pasti ada.

Ahhhh,, sebel juga seri ini harus berakhir. =__=. Gw ngarep kalo Ms Collins mau bikin apapun soal seri ini lagi. Damn. 3 buku itu kurang mamen.

Finishing the book left me in a daze, and feeling like curling up in a closet myself. It was easier for me to get into this book compared to the first two, especially THG.

I first read Mockingjay in December 2010 and rated it 4 stars. This is my first time rereading it since then and my view on this entire series has completely changed. 5 stars, hands down.
