Halfway into it I thought I might get a serious headache. Then everything started to be amazing!

Harper is the kind of girl who tries to be perfect. To be perfect at school, have perfect grades, perfect life, perfect boyfriend.
She freaks out before her homecoming party because she has to wear a different nuance of lipstick from hers. MAN! Wasn't I slapping my face over such stupidity? But not five minutes later she's ninja fighting in the bathroom in heels and ends up kissing the janitor and ki Halfway into it I thought I might get a serious headache. I mean, seriously. I had to stop sometimes for good minutes. Why? The humor is perfect! The main character, Harper is such a nice MC to have, and to listen to her bubbling. She's so cute. It became obvious to me that she wasn't all lovey-dovey with Ryan so it wasn't much of a surprise when another guy showed up. I did not mind the love triangle in this one because it didn't feel like one, not really.

Having Harper developing dangerous ninja skills was fun to watch. She starts by discovering that she's got protect her life-long enemy, David Stark. And she ends up flipping her boyfriend for it, then saving him from stalking cars,from a assassin mage. In the meantime Harper and David come to terms with their friendship and start off as friends in the end. But no, it's not that easy. It becomes obvious that David lingers around her more and more, he's there for her when she cries, when she breaks down. He is there to pick up the pieces and puts some naughty butterflies in Harper's stomach. It's painful to watch Harper and Ryan's relationship crumbling but I felt it coming. Harper needed time to see that she has a destiny. SHe ends up craving David so that's it.
I love her characters, she's not useless, she fights like some crazy ninja.
David was there when needed. He didn't turn his head when he saw Harper crying although he says he has a soft spot for crying girls he actually has a soft spot for Harper. And their first kiss? Humph, I forgot to breath ^^ ...more

I don't even have words to express how amazing this book is. The characters were just so well developed and the plot was so unique. Actually this book as a whole is so different than anything I've read in a long time and it was a refreshing read. I'd been reading a lot of contemporary recently and I felt like I needed a change of pace and this hit the spot. Since it's an urban fantasy, there didn't need to be so much world-building but the action part of the story really made it awesome. Harper ...more

Easily the most entertaining book I've read in a while, Rebel Belle is hilarious, action-packed, and unpredictable. Contemporaries aren't usually the genre I gravitate towards, but the deviation paid off in this case.

You forgot your lip gloss. You run to the bathroom, intent on applying the perfect salmon pout. And then, all of the sudden, the school janitor runs into the ladies room and locks the door. If this sounds like the most randomly fun and entertaining first chapter EVER, then get ready to read REBEL BELLE, a hilarious young adult novel that unites an awesome mix of quirky contemporary and paranormal action -- all while keeping things totally unique and realistic through a great mix of surprisingly down-to-earth characters who are just trying to get a grasp on the sudden weirdness that has just become their lives.

The two things I loved most about this book were the ongoing hillariousness that jumped out on every page and the realistic, relatable way in which the characters reacted to the craziness around them. This is definitely the funniest novel I've read in a while, and I would probably compare it most to the PARANORMALCY series by Kiersten White, which was probably the last set of books that kept me smiling in quite the same way. (I haven't yet read the HEX HALL series, so unfortunately I can't really speak on those -- although, I will definitely add it to my immediate TBR list based on the awesomeness of Rebel Belle!)

I don't want to give any spoilers so I won't list my favorite individual moments of funniness -- but trust me. THIS BOOK IS HYSTERICAL! For sure!

I really did enjoy Harper's outlook and her intention to try and balance her life as a perfect, popular student with that of a ninja entrusted with a human life -- forever. Some young adult paranormal stories just feel so unrealistic in the way that the protagonists are able to immediately adapt to their new superpowers and to seamlessly weld their pre and post paranormal lives into a seamless identity. Harper definitely has her fair share of lame excuses, awkward and encounters, and existential crises before halfway accepting her fate (near the very end of the book).

Oh, and I TOTALLY did not realize that REBEL BELLE is the first in a series -- or else I may have waited. Because now .... I just have to WAIT .... and WAIT... and WAIT!!!

Rebel Belle was overall a pretty good read and had very likeable characters. Unfortunately this book got caught up in my book hangover after the winner's curse by Marie rutkoski but it was good enough to pull through, the ending especially seizing me.

Harper Price is a spunky, polite yet clever and snarky character who won me over without me even knowing it. I realised how much I was on her side when Mary-Beth spat out a horrible insult at her and I was with most of her decision More of a 4.5 :)

She was a fully realised character and didnt muck around in the romance department with indecisiveness; she questioned and realised her true feelings very effectively.
David Stark got better and better throughout the book. I love how his sense of style is described and he reads to be the perfect counterpart for Harper with his snarkiness and yet sweet, encouraging heart.
Ryan was quite sweet as well. I enjoyed his and Bee's characters since they both genuinely cared for Harper and were consistent in character throughout.
Harper's aunts are really funny, I thought I might add and I really dont like Mary-Beth.

The plot of this has been accurately described as a contemporary with paranormal elements and I did find the action to be few and far between. However I did still enjoy the areas of non-Paladin buisness since Harper's busy life and her relationships were interesting to read about. I do feel there is much development for the plot to come since it was pretty basic and I think there definitely could be more made of this original and entrancing mythology.

The romance in this is brilliantly paced and well-done with realistic elements and a blessed lack of lust at first sight. The characters involved all already knew one another and the feelings were boiled specifically down to liking and I did not have to suffer through endless wittering about 'what his lips would feel like against mine'. Definitely impressed and I have a new OTP.

I am very excited for Miss Mayhem having found the ending of this book to be the best part and I'm intrigued and frankly scared as to what is going to happen. I have genuinely built concern for these characters and I have a feeling the 2nd book is going to be even better.

I like this....it feels like I'm reading a chick-lit with an angst. I didn't like Harper at first because she's a little too girly for me, but I ended up liking her because she managed to be a girly-girl with a kick ass attitude. and the story is absolutely hilarious. it's a light read and I loved it. ...more
