An easy read, except the complex medical terms. Not much emotional fuss but the simplicity and fast-flowing narrative are absorbing. This is a magnificent read. The writing is beautiful and the story is absolutely wonderful. It is a complex story of an Indian family, a community, layered with fascinating characters and poetic descriptions of their lives, their heartaches, successes and failures, tragedies, but leaves the reader with a sense of hope, and a belief in the healing power of love and forgiveness within a family. This was a book I couldn’t put down...it is fantastic! Highly recommended!

I loved the author earlier book Secret Daughter and this one didn't disappoint either. A 4.3 star read for me.

I read this book for an online book club, and I am SO grateful that it was brought to my attention. I found parts of this book to be very moving. It really broadened my horizons on the Indian culture and one man's struggle to reconcile American culture and medicine with his heritage.
