The author is getting a raw deal -I love that Oprah picked this book-not ok that she felt she had to say something after people went all ape shit crazy because the author is not from MEXICO!
I write my reviews for myself and sometimes hope an author reads them!
I say, stop reading reviews, if the story sounds interesting to you, then read it and experience for yourself.
I got the book in audio and hardcover (bet the publisher loves me!!!) I liked the narrator for the audio.

Yes, I read all of the controversy surrounding this book, but I loved it. I feel it was well written,and a page turner. The further I got in the book, the more I inwardly prayed that Lydia and Luca would make it to 'el norte'.

Was compelled to pick a copy of this book after seeing it as a part of Oprah's book club 2020.
American Dirt is the story of a Mexican immigrant who escapes the horrors of her city and attempts to cross borders to reach her destination in the United States.
