"Cuando perdí mi vista, Werner, la gente decía que era valiente. Cuando mi padre se fue, la gente decía que era valiente. Pero no es valentía; no tengo elección. Me despierto y vivo mi vida. ¿No haces tu lo mismo? "
HERMOSO LIBRO!!!!
Una historia muy real y desgarradora en un contexto, que si bien real, esta muy bien creado. La narración es excelente, se entiende porque éste libro es el ganador del Premio Pulitzer del 2015 y lo tienen totalmente merecido.

Ok, so it seems this didn't work out for me as I thought it would. As I expected it to work. Even better, I was expecting to really like this book, after all it's a story taking place during WWII, but I didn't know much about it, I had read the synopsis more than a year ago and could no longer remember it, but I just couldn't.

I was worried that when I started this book it would become boring and too descriptive for me. That was not the case at all. Yes it was very descriptive and I did have to look up a a couple of things like vacuum cleaners and car jacks of the 40's but I really enjoyed the characters. I'm so surprised by how quickly I read this book! I started it 3 days ago, but I didn't read one of those days, so technically only 2 days ago XD The short chapters really helped with the speed, but it was so interesting! To be honest, I don't know how the story made up 530 pages. It really didn't feel like it. Even though the time jumps were confusing at times, they also really helped develop the story. For once, I love how (view spoiler)

This was a very different historical read than I usually read. The way it was told was nice, but since there wasn't a lot of dialogue it wasn't as enjoyable for me. Still it was a really good read.

Somewhere around a third or halfway through the text, the plot plods along. I think this was the part where Werner was trapped in the building cellar with Volkheimer. However, on the whole, the plot was interesting.
Of the three war novels -- The Book Thief, The Nightingale, and this one -- I would consider this text the most interesting. The prose is also of better quality.
