Shelves: read-in-2018, ebook

Wow! Another very sad, heart-wrenching book by Ruta Sepetys.

Narrated by four different characters, it tells the story of a terrible sea tragedy that occurred in the Baltic Sea, in 1945, when thousands were being evacuated from Germany. An event, I must confess, I knew nothing about.

One of the narrators is connected to the narrator of ‘Between Shades of Grey’ by the same author.

Definitely recommended.

A book set during WWII told in the voices of 4 teens from different backgrounds. This book tells the story of groups of refugees trying to get to freedom and the biggest maritime disaster of all time. Another good one from Ruta Sepetys.

How is it possible that we have never heard this story? I am amazed, saddened and appalled. War is such a horrific thing. This book truly touched touched my heart and made me want to learn more. I will definitely read it again and recommend it to all.
