This was nearly a perfect book for me. It hit pretty much every benchmark I look for in stories. Scifi, different humanoid races, a not so overcooked romance, action, an evil ruler, and characters you can't help but feel strongly about.

The ending was a bit predictable, but it was handled so well that I forgive that one small gripe.

Cinder lives in New Beiijing and works as a mechanic. SHe is a cyborg and therefore property of her stepmother. Her life changes one day when Prince Kai walks into her shop for her to repair his android. A modern re-telling of the Cinderella story, its twists and imaginings in a post war society is fascinating.

Me encantó!!! Super original, mezclar un cuento clásico en un mundo distópico, con mezclas de culturas y una pandemia.

Es un poco frustrante leer todo lo que tiene que sufrir Cinder por su situación económica y familiar, además ella no se acepta como cyborg. Kai tampoco está en su mejor momento, siendo el Emperador de New Beijing y teniendo a Queen Levana en sus espaldas, no es nada agradable.

I liked this book a lot. It was definitely exciting. I did guess the twist at the very beginning, though, the moment they told about Celene. I mentioned it to my son (10) as we were listening. Pretty early on, when her sister gets sick, he said it was too sad and he didn't want to listen to the rest.

Okay, now this is kind of cheating, but I'm writing this review after reading the whole series. NO spoilers, I promise.

Cinder, though a retelling of Cinderella, was somehow something new to me. It’s not like anything I’ve read before. Cyborgs, androids, people from the moon, how cool is that? AND don’t forget the fairytale-like romance.

Cinderella was my favorite fairytale ever, and from a Cinderella fan, may I say that I’m not disappointed on how it was tweaked to become an awesome new story.

CINDER’S WORLD
I like the world where Cinder live in. It seems like it provided me a glimpse of what our future world woul Cinder, though a retelling of Cinderella, was somehow something new to me. It’s not like anything I’ve read before. Cyborgs, androids, people from the moon, how cool is that? AND don’t forget the fairytale-like romance.

Cinderella was my favorite fairytale ever, and from a Cinderella fan, may I say that I’m not disappointed on how it was tweaked to become an awesome new story.

CINDER’S WORLD
I like the world where Cinder live in. It seems like it provided me a glimpse of what our future world would be like, which I think is getting closer each passing day. Though I like her world, I don’t want to live in it, cause I’m a lazy person. Imagine a lazy person like me were to live in a place where androids do the work, I’ll be a couch potato. (On second thought, that wouldn’t be so bad. Hmmmm, I can even ask my android to do book reviews for me.)

CHARACTERS
Cinder, the way I see her, is beautiful without her even knowing it. Mainly because she’s very bothered about her cyborg parts. I like that she is not exactly like the Cinderella I’ve grown up to. She’s kind but not a damsel in distress. There’s nothing wrong if the character is a damsel in distress, I’m just not a fan of it. I like it when the female character is portrayed as a strong person who stands up for herself.

Prince Kai is my new love. I love how he talks and acts when Cinder is around. He’s a real charmer. Aside from that, it is amazing to see how much he loves his people, love it more than his self actually, which is a characteristic every leader should have.

Queen Levana, well, I can only describe her as an EVIL being. She’s the perfect “witch” for this story.

All in all, I love all the characters. Each and every one of them made this book amazing.

To be honest, after reading the 5th Wave, I’ve been looking for a book that will make me feel excited when reading it, and finally I found that buzz here. So I’m really really looking forward to reading the second book which is Scarlet. ...more

This one is like a 3.5 for me! It was such a different and unique take on the Cinderella story. Cinderella is a cyborg-there's more than one villian-it takes place after world war 4-there is also a nasty plague! See very inventive! I guess my only complaint is that I felt like the story just cut off with no warning! Imagine Cinderella losing her shoe and the prince finding it and then the story just ending! I'd be like "Cool.
