This is like nothing I have ever read: densely puzzled and elegant sentences that must be unpacked and re-ordered to allow the implications and vast weight of the unsaid to become clear. I have no context for the sixties, so this dystopian meandering through a fractured landscape of weird values and events and problems and causes was fascinating. But the variousness of this collection did not matter because of the tremendous experience I was having with the language and her meticulously crafted
