What Members Thought
It is possible to identify so clearly with the antagonisms this novel presents: loving one's family but feeling trapped by them. The overwhelming conflicts of guilt and responsibility and longing for freedom to choose how to use one's time and passions. However, it is also possible to feel that the protagonist made certain choices because she had not the courage or desire to fight down her own weaknesses and selfishness and patiently cultivate true joy.
