10 or of 10 ⭐️ I thought the first book was a hit but this one...... my favorite book in the chestnut spring series!!! Cade was a single dad who did not play about who will keep and look after his son; I loved that. He was stubborn in his own way, but when he meet the lady his sister n law want to take care of his son, she ends up being the new lady in his life. My heart went out to Cade when he talked about how his son mom was she was just someone who just do not care about their kid.

Heartless

Okay well, to start off I loved the way the story was going and the types of characters (Nanny x single dad), as well as the way it seemed (I assume) to be intertwined with the other books in the series - for example 'Powerless'. Especially giving way to, and a sort of introduction to the characters in the next book as well as the dynamic. But I do have to say the plot - or in other words the climax - needed some sort of oomph to really make it shoot off the ground, which sadly this sto Heartless

Okay well, to start off I loved the way the story was going and the types of characters (Nanny x single dad), as well as the way it seemed (I assume) to be intertwined with the other books in the series - for example 'Powerless'. But I do have to say the plot - or in other words the climax - needed some sort of oomph to really make it shoot off the ground, which sadly this story did not have.

Willa Grant was a very exciting character to know, I loved how she was honest and treated Luke like a human being but also a kid at the same time. I also loved that fact that Elsie Silver made her a jokey and fun character which was a very good creative choice that worked with the (grumpy x sunshine) dynamic.

(Side note: I ngl felt like I resonated with Willa and Cade so much that I thought if they had a kid I would be it ~~and I mean it was a girl soooo I could be~~ 😂)

Now...Cade (Manly) Grant. He honestly was a very sweet and loveable character - not to mention sexy, as when Silver described him on a horse, I could instantly imagine this handsome man in all his striking glory. Howeverrrr, as much as I love him he did not give 'Heartless' which is what the book is called. This was the biggest tid bit that bothered me about the book.

I know that the biggest fall through was the characterisation, especially for Cade. He was meant to be portrayed as unlovable and not caring about anything but when Willa walked in he almost instantly changed. I personally did not like this. I feel that I needed to feel a deeper sense of his character and that his 'heartless' demeanour needed to be accentuated more so he would slowly, slowly open up and question his closed off (heartless) values.

Anyhoo! I will leave you with a quote to use as a mantra🙏:
