Bieng a fan of Hemingway and of his beautiful book "A Moveable Feast" I was intrigued by this book. I did not expect it to be such a masterpiece as A Moveable Feast is, but I also did not expect it to be so flat. The prose has no dynamic movement, the author seems to sometimes try a Hemingway-inspired sort of style, which does not work at all. The characters are not well developed. This book gives us a new look at the life of Ernest in the paris years with his first wife. It gives a look at the years he writes about in his novel about the paris years from an outsiders perspective and is a real pleasure to read.
