I liked the first two Takeshi Kovacs books enough that I forced myself through this one. Morgan is an excellent writer, but things just didn't come together. There were scenes, and people, but it seemed fragmented - too often, I didn't understand who the people were, how they got there, or what they were doing. I believe that this book is the weakest of the series but at the same time enjoyable because the rest of the books leave you wondering what the Martians are. This kinda answers some questions while leaving the aliens of the series as a mystery still.
Feels like there was no plot planned for the book, just stuff happening to the main character. This one basically just wrapped up a bunch of background setting stuff from previous 2 books. The main character is even more unlikeable misogynist than last time. There's a theme about rebelling against oppression but it doesn't really lift this one.
