Generally I'm not a fan of fantasy, but for some reason I really got into this book. Some of the plot in the books seems very complicated for children and had I read it before I probably wouldn't have liked it! Reading it now I was really impressed and loved how complicated the plot was. You are constantly trying to see how everything in the book connects together. The end was extremely sad though! Overall, this was such a good book and I really want to read the other two in the series.

Liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. The whole idea of having an animal that mirrors your soul and mind is one of the coolest things I have ever heard. And being so close to the animal that it causes you pain when you are away from it is even cooler. The world Pullman creates in this novel with all different kinds of people, places, worlds, animals, dust, everything. It's amazing.

I liked the story line of this book, but it was kind of hard to follow. I think this book is too long and confusing for children. One of my favorite quotes from the book is "You can not change what you are, only what you do."
