What Members Thought

This book has a slow beginning, but speeds up and has multiple moral lessons for children. It involves a deep, serious history, but there is also a good amount of light humor to decrease the intensity. I like the way the character's talk in southern accents. I also like how the narrator is a young, naive girl who is learning and understanding more and more through her peers. It is easy for the reader to grow and connect with this coming of age novel.
