Re-read in January 2024 in preparation for CC3. Taking down to 4 stars.

Ah, Nesta. Going back through her journey was excruciatingly painful - more so than the first time I read this book. I found myself clenching my teeth almost the entire time in preparation for what she would have to say next.

I don’t find Nesta’s response to pain to be relatable, but I empathize with the yawning chasm of despair she finds herself in, and with the fierce protectiveness she summons for those she loves. I absol ...more

Wow. With every book I read, I fall more in love with SJM and her universe.

Silver Flames was AMAZING. What a powerful, fierce story. I have never felt more empowered. The gratitude and love I feel for my life from this story is immeasurable. It reminds you of all the reasons that life is beautiful even in those dark moments. It reminds you that you are worthy even if there is darkness within you. It reminds you how powerful love truly is.

Wowza. That was a doozy.

As someone who hated Nesta going into this… I’ll give her some credit where it’s due. Her character arc was probably the grandest in the series. That being said, I still don’t think I’ll ever not get annoyed by her. But she’s a lot more tolerable now.

Maas’ depiction of Nesta’s PTSD/depression was eloquent. Despite the third person POV, you could really gather a sense of how far gone Nesta had been.

every sarah j maas book i read changes my life, i swear. this series will forever hold such a special place in my heart. i adore these characters, their stories, everything. i want to live in this world and be friends with all of them (or be all of them, tbh.)

i hope to write something just as impactful one day.

Listened to the graphic audio this time.. so much better than the original narration! Who would have thought the one with sound effects would actually be less cringy?
As I reread I loved how long it took to make things right. Nesta had to really work on herself before she felt worthy to ask for forgiveness. I love that she found friends who love her for HER, not for being Feyre’s sister and having to put up with her. Gwyn and Emry got to know her throug Reread Dec 2023:

Gwyn and Emry got to know her through her instead of what they knew of her and her past actions or behaviors. The inner circle got to see her change and really show remorse and growth.
Now if only Elaine wasn’t so easily forgiven for also being a complacent mooch 🤪 ugh Elaine. Can’t wait for her story so that I can actually grow to like her because honestly right now she is kind of the worst. What about her does everyone in the books seem to love??? She’s boring and was just as guilty to let her baby sister go into the woods while she planted flowers and spent their little money. Also give Lucien a freaking chance dammit. It’s not his fault you were turned fae. Get to know the man for f***s sake.
I hate that yet another powerful woman had to give up her amazing powers though. Come on Sarah, why do you keep doing that. 🫠 she had the power to save them without giving what she took back. It didn’t have to go that way…. I know there is honor in giving up your strength for others and it is proof that she has grown to outwardly sacrifice for others… but it didn’t need to happen and I’m still bitter about (redacted name from ToG to avoid spoilers) and Amren. We can’t have women more powerful than the men huh? Just kidding but like…. Not? 😅
All in all I’m still obsessed with SJM and all she creates. I’ll read her grocery order, alright?

Original review July 2022: 🌶️ 4.99⭐️ It was a little hard getting into this one. I’m not sure if it was having to let go of always being in Feyre’s POV or getting deeper past Nestas ugly shell, but once Nesta finally started participating in the trainings I was hooked. Sooooo 2/3rds of the book is literal fairy porn. Is that a spoiler? 😅 Even though the sex scenes were more graphic and frequent, they felt less spicy with less anticipation or build up than the prior books which was a let down and it all felt like it lost some of the magic— UNTIL you get to the middle/ending.
