This felt so unreal.
The romance was a little annoying (considering their first kiss in the book was literally when they hated each other) but some of the SWEETEST Kaipae moments came out of this-

first off, 5 stars. are we surprised? no. moving on. this book was everything i needed and more. i was terrified to read this because powerless is my favorite book ever ever ever so i didn’t know if reckless would live up to it but it completely surpassed my expectations. i read this book in the span of less than 24 hours, it was such a fun and addicting read, i couldn’t put it down.

kai and pae’s banter was sooo good😫 one of my favorite things about powerless was their banter and their banter i first off, 5 stars. are we surprised? no. moving on. this book was everything i needed and more. i was terrified to read this because powerless is my favorite book ever ever ever so i didn’t know if reckless would live up to it but it completely surpassed my expectations. i read this book in the span of less than 24 hours, it was such a fun and addicting read, i couldn’t put it down.

kai and pae’s banter was sooo good😫 one of my favorite things about powerless was their banter and their banter in reckless dare i say was so much better. i was laughing so much at their dialogue. pae and i share the same exact humor so i found it completely hilarious.

the writing itself in this book is perfect. lauren roberts really knows how to make words absolutely crush your soul. yes i laughed a lot, but i think i cried more. i’m just extremely emotional though so don’t go thinking it’s a gut wrenching book. i HAD to annotate basically every page bc the writing is so beautiful. it’s fast paced but also has so much detail and emotion behind it. anything lauren roberts writes i WILL be reading.

i was never ever bored with this book, nothing was dragged on and i didn’t feel like there were any parts that could’ve been left out. it was so action packed. it was genuinely a really fun read, although i did cry a lot and throw the book across my room once🤗

every time i reread powerless i’m reminded of the horrifying fact that kai and pae don’t even kiss in it. well miss roberts definitely made up for that in reckless as i lost count of how many times they kissed in this book. i never failed to squeal like a child anytime they did. their chemistry in this book was so different from powerless but i almost liked it more?? not sure. this book was more enemies to lovers, except they were always lovers? point is, i ATE IT UP.

this series has such a special place in my heart and if you haven’t read it, i do pray you are able to sleep at night knowing you’re missing out on the best series ever. ...more

What was that last sentence??! 😳
This book was very much just about Kai and Pae and their constant bickering. I would have loved to see more characters appear or a side quest or something. Or all of these things. I will still give it 4 stars, just because it was entertaining, but I felt it lacked something.

I did enjoy this book overall, but I have to admit—I still prefer the first one in the series. It had that extra magic that kept me hooked from start to finish. Reckless, on the other hand, had some sections in the middle that felt a bit... unnecessary? Almost like filler, you know? It seemed like some of it could’ve been trimmed without really losing anything.

Lauren did it again, she wrote an amazing book with the best possible cliffhangers (or should I say worst because I DONT want to wait for 2025!)
I feel like I was expecting more from this book. Powerless is one of my favorite reads of all time and I guess I had similar expectations. I just feel like I was waiting for the book to finally hit a point, and it didn’t until the very end.

4.5 ⭐️ I loved this book, however went into a HUGE reading slump half way through it due to life being so full on, so happy to finally FOUR MONTHS later finish it!

Here’s to hopefully not landing in another slump due to the hectic-ness of life in the next four months !! 😅🩶
