This book exceeded all my expectations and more. The focus was primarily on the main characters. I devoured this book; it's definitely my new favorite.

The emotions were overwhelming, so intense. This book is never boring—not for a single moment. Every chapter has something happening. I couldn't put it down. The plot was incredible, with many revelations from their past.

This book was just good. It didn’t blow me away and it didn’t quite give me the satisfaction I was hoping for in a follow up book. This series is a trilogy and using a middle book for mainly traveling and character development isn’t the best use of a time in such a short series.

4.5 stars. I don’t understand why this book gets so much hate. I found it entertaining and captivating from start to finish. Yes, it had typos from clearly being rushed by the publisher, but those typos did not affect the stellar character development, especially in Kai and Paedyn. This was a character driven piece with a fairly straightforward plot (Kitt sends Kai on a mission to bring Paedyn to him after she escapes Ilya), and perhaps it was the lack of fantasy and action that leads people to ...more

Ok, so..... We all know I wasn't fan of the first book in this trilogy.. I felt like it fell short and it left me wanting more. I feel like this book was different in terms of the plot, but I also was left confused. Sometimes it felt like really jolting between the scenes regarding the overall plot....

Like, for example (SPOILERS AHEAD):

One minute we’re heading back to the kingdom in the desert with the imperials, the next, we have a prince captive and silent as he’s walking and all Pae cares abo Ok, so..... We all know I wasn't fan of the first book in this trilogy.. I felt like it fell short and it left me wanting more. I feel like this book was different in terms of the plot, but I also was left confused. Sometimes it felt like really jolting between the scenes regarding the overall plot....

Like, for example (SPOILERS AHEAD):

One minute we’re heading back to the kingdom in the desert with the imperials, the next, we have a prince captive and silent as he’s walking and all Pae cares about is her image to the kingdom after the trials. And BOOM, Lenny’s mom is there, then we’re talking about half breeds? It is a jump scare with no details in between. Again, feels like I’m just reading about something happening rather than encasing myself into a world, into a story. And, what happened to Lenny!? Like they are just gone now?

And, where is Makoto? From the novella, Powerful? I really wish he would have made an appearance in this book and help tie a lot of loose ends together. I'm sure he'll be back in book 3, but I felt like it was a missed opportunity to have him appear in this book...

Also, does Kitt even like Pae!? I don’t understand. I feel like she gives him hope for his kingdom, but he’s so weak, I feel like he only wants her so he can appear stronger and honestly only wants her because Kai wants her, or because Kai HAS her and he doesn’t. I sense some jealousy here. Proving his worth through this woman!?!? I pray the next book isn’t a love triangle where she has to choose. We know nothing more of Kitt than he is in his father’s shadow and trying to prove himself a king. I wish we had more of his story to help anchor what the FUCK happens at the end of this book.

Pretend, pretend, pretend! No more use of this word. Along with INSUFFERABLE! lol, I’m sorry, I’m getting angry just thinking about.

Annnnnd LASTLY, The last line of this book?! The beast and beauty, NOOOOO why did they have to put that in there. CRINGE! It really made my blood boil.

All in all, putting my angry reactionary feelings aside for the above descriptions, it could have definitely been stronger in many areas. Perhaps I'm more of a fantasy reader than romance... But who doesn't like a little romance?! This was an easy read, aside from my angry comments above. I'm hoping that book 3 can really drive this trilogy home and mature with the rest of the story.

A good book! Second in the series, and definitely was setting up for the next novel in the series. Lots of character development and more love story than action in comparison to the first. Excited for the third with how this one ended— predictable ending though.

I hate giving this one such a low rating because I actually really enjoy the characters and the banter but the plot was so minimal that I couldn't get past that. They spend the majority of the book in a desert with very little plot development at all. I will read the third one though because I want to see how it comes to an end but overall the book reads like a young adult fan fiction. ...more

I’ve seen some say they didn’t enjoy reckless but holy moly I LOVED IT! I do agree that some parts in the middle felt like they dragged in a bit but there was so much action, adventure, romance, and shock!

The friggen ending!? I’m so glad I waiting until the next book was almost out before reading this because I could NOT have waited! lol
