Now, this was a great book! And a great beginning for this new series.
It was a bit slow paced, but the storytelling was great, as was the world building. It left me eager to read more and with questions about the marks, the ancestors, the blood ties with the ancient queen.
Then, of course, the girlish part of me wants more of this love triangle (I love them both btw).
And I'm so happy for the girl power of Celeana and Nehemia's friendship 💕

Ugh it doesn’t slap as hard reading it the 2nd time BUT things make so much moreeeeeee sense. Cain was 10000% possessed by the valg!!


Wow wow wow

I went into this book thinking it would be the same vibes as ACOTAR but boy was I wrong… this was such a good book and so excited to see how the story progresses.

i thought Chaol was overbearing and weird but now I lowkey love him 🫶🏻

Tbh I am fairly disappointed when we found out the king and duke knew about Cain summoning a beast to kill off

It definitely reads like a book written by a 16 year old Sarah J. Maas, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I'm excited to continue the series, knowing that it only gets better from here! ...more

I would honestly rate this more of a 4.5 than a 4, but that wasn’t an option. It’s really good book, I would def recommend it, I just am picky with my 5s, but can see how this would be one for most people.
