Okay, so let’s get something straight right off the bat—The Night Ends with Fire is not Disney’s Mulan. Calling this book a Mulan copy is like calling a gourmet, slow-simmered ramen bowl “just Cup Noodles.” Technically…sure? But also—how dare you.

I read this book very slowly (i got distracted my other books) but it is a pretty good read, a Mulan retelling with much more action and deeper meanings. The ending, tho it makes sense for the time period, absolutely enraged me. Meilin deserved better.
