The problem with writing an anti-hero, is that you can’t make them too unlikeable, as we don’t become invested in what happens to them. That was my problem here, and I really wanted to love this. Mulan is one of my childhood favourite Disney films, and I like Chinese mythology and legends while not knowing a lot about them. The book and story is well enough written.
