I really liked this book. It was funny where I was laughing out loud, it was witty and snarky but also had me in tears a few times. I actually didn't think it was going to have such a heavy dose of sadness. I didn't really know what I was picking up when I started reading, I just knew it was popular. I am really glad I was a follower to read this one. I will probably think about this book quite often in the future.

I loved this book. I laughed, cringed, cried and cheered. Elizabeth is a true pioneer. I can only imagine what the late 1950’s were like for independent women, unwilling to “play the game”. And the dog, and Harriet, the neighbor! So many amazing characters.

I enjoyed this book as it had a powerful message about women in the workplace/home and the obstacles they had to overcome. Did it grab me immediately? No not really, rather it took me longer than I expected. I couldn't really relate to the characters in a way I would've liked.

It’s always interesting when you pick up (read: finally get around to) a book which is so universally praised and recommended. Having high expectations can also lead to being more critical, or even when something is good, it doesn’t quite live up to the hype. Happily though, this book is all that was promised, and more. I absolutely loved it.
