What Members Thought
This book was honestly so miserable, and I don’t think it was advertised as such. The summary says this book is about “female resilience and the transformative power of the natural world.” But so much of this book is either scenes of or scenes leading up to violence against women. This book includes more than one instance of rape, including of a teenager. Forced pregnancy and explicit detail of pregnancy loss are also depicted. The book strongly focuses on motherhood, but not enough witchiness for me.
The pacing is inconsistent- sometimes it really drags. The writing is pretty at times; if you look closely there are layers of metaphors within the descriptive text.
