This was a really great read. I found the life and loves of Evelyn Hugo so intriguing! Themes that were explored: sexuality (specifically female sexuality), family, power & influence, self-worth & self-confidence, & gender roles. I think what I took away the most was how ambiguous a lot of these things are in our lives and I think the pressure, especially in today's world to say something is right or wrong or good or evil or black and white is too easily defined. Wow, I really enjoyed this book. I love old Hollywood and this book was exactly that. I envisioned Evelyn Hugo to be Elizabeth Taylor (with all the glitz, glamour and beauty). I enjoyed learning about Evelyn's life and career and the obstacles she overcame to have said career. I loved the twist towards the end, when we find out why Evelyn chose Monique to write her life story. I'm excited to read more books by this author, she captivated me!
