It was like reading a sitcom coming to life in front of my eyes. This book is the cutest thing I've read in a long time. The fact that it is a comedy/romance but in fantasy world, made it so so good. I love the characters and how they just jump off the page at you.
It is so well written and the tone is so specific and wonderful, Hannah Maehrer really did a great job bring these characters and this story to life.
I didn't want it to end, and was so happy to jump into the second book. I still want ...more

I rarely trash a book, but... This was bad. Bad writing. Bad. The hype is truly making me feel like I was tricked into reading a completely different book than everyone else? This was so bad.
Series/standalone: series (assistant to the villain, book 1)
Plot/Storyline: 2/5
YA/NA/A: labeled as adult but it is as juvenile as they come.
Genre: fantasy/romance/mystery
Tropes: both crushing immediately but denying / boss and employee / touch her and you die
POV: dual - FMC, MMC
Feels: 2/5
Romance: ...more

It was a cute read, but until the last 5-10 chapters it was a slow read for me, the ending was phenomenal and the puzzle pieces were coming together and there was excitement and I couldn’t put it down! But until then the slow banter was cute but nothing to get excited for. It was a little choppy at parts in the first 20 chapters and the world building was just okay. But I could be comparing that with other books that have a ton of world building that I am used to. 🤷🏽♀️
Again decent read, glad I ...more
