the back & forth fow is seamless and the first-person narrative gives a nice twist to the story that makes a complex plot easier to read. the plot makes you keep guessing, will they betray or help one another. the plot twist along the story are nice but I'm good at knowing what
will happen so I'm not surprised, but I think you'll be surprised. it's a fun book that makes you just wanna slow down. ...more

It took me at least 100 pages to get into this book. At first it was super confusing. I’ve heard it can be if you don’t start with the shadow and bone triology first, so I’m not surprised. It really started to pick up and all of the characters intertwined in such a satisfying way. Overall it was great but it wasn’t so gripping that I couldn’t put it down. However, I have heard the second one is even better than the first, so I’m looking forward to reading that.

at first i was scared because it felt so slow, but honestly this book is beautifully written in all aspects.
