I completely understand the hype. I am in love with these characters (Kaz…is my reliable, brooding soulmate) and just the great story. This plot came together so well and was written so well. I thought I’d struggle through this world and all the places and types of magic and everything but I didn’t. The author did a wonderful job world-building. Can’t wait to start book 2!

Six of Crows was completely different than how I initially imagined. Think steampunk/crime drama with elements of magic and fantasy woven throughout. I can tell just from this enstallment how vast and intricate the Grishaverse is and how much potential the world building brings for other stories (I have yet to read S&B or watch the series).

It took me at least 100 pages to get into this book. At first it was super confusing. I’ve heard it can be if you don’t start with the shadow and bone triology first, so I’m not surprised. It really started to pick up and all of the characters intertwined in such a satisfying way. Overall it was great but it wasn’t so gripping that I couldn’t put it down. However, I have heard the second one is even better than the first, so I’m looking forward to reading that.
