I loved this. All of it. 💗
I read it through a couple of nights and stayed up till 5am to finish it last night 👀
**✿❀ closing the book...
I have very conflicted feelings about the romance in this book, but I know from personal history where my heart will inexorably lead me.
I'm extremely partial to Rhys but I also want a bit of happy, simple life for Fayre with Tamlin. But I also didn't like Tamlin in the second half of this.
I crave more Lucien scenes in book #2.

Re-read January 2024 in preparation for CC3:
Taking my rating down to 4 stars, to reflect my slightly stricter standards for a 5-star read now. This was probably more like 3.5 rounded up to 4. This book reads like a pretty standard fantasy one-off if you ignore the foreshadowing for the future, and if I was evaluating it as a standalone it would probably get 3 stars. The characters that later develop such strong personalities are fairly stereotyped here, it really feels like a foundation that ha ...more

2024 re read:
I genuinely cannot believe I missed so much from the 1st time. Genuinely doesn’t slap as hard this time but I would still overall rate it 4 stars.
I just genuinely do not get the hype about Nesta, she is ignorant and selfish. If it wasn’t for Feyre they literally would’ve died. Let’s not forget how useless Elain was as well.
Tampon obviously isn’t as bad in this book but the locking her up, not letting her leave the grounds just ugh. I’ve always liked Rhys even though he was portra ...more

The world building! omg, no words. It took a few pages to get into, but suddenly I was semerged into a new world and didn't want to get out of it. I had a really fun time reading it, it was easy to follow and just, ahhhhh! Speachless <3 can't wait to read every SJM book there is :)

GUYSSS! Sarah J. Mass outdone herself once again. Honestly at first I thought Feyre was going to be annoying but she wasn't (which is rare to me). Sometimes I'm not into booktok but I'll give it this one.

I don’t normally do book reviews on books that I read… I’m just a small town, Iowa, farm mom that enjoys reading in my spare time, so my opinion isn’t particularly noteworthy, BUT I feel like this book deserves a book review because spreading the word is the least I can do.

What sets this book apart is its ability to maintain a captivating narrative from start to finish with great pacing. Many series openers can struggle with the burden of world-building and character introductions, resulting in a slow or dull start. However, Sarah J. Maas seamlessly introduces us to her richly imagined world and characters while keeping us entertained throughout. There were no dull moments in this book.

Slow start, but it picks up at the end. Overall, I really enjoyed it. However, things REALLY get GOOD in Book 2 (A Court of Mist and Fury).
