BOOK REVIEW - The Seamstress of Acadie - Laura Frantz - 5/5 Stars

THE STORY
January and the New Year means a new tale from Laura Frantz! And what another amazing tale it was! You know you're reading a good book when you have to go to bed because your eyes can no longer focus but you can't sleep because the story is still whirling in you thoughts. I'd never heard of Acadia and it's French inhabitants before reading this story and was both fascinated and saddened to learn about their history. I don'

Once again Laura transported me to a time in history that I honestly didn't have much knowledge about and I absolutely loved it. It was a hard journey from Canada to Virginia but such beautiful moments of seeing God through the hardships that the characters endured throughout the story.

Sylvie is our main character and I really appreciated that Laura Frantz took time to really give us a great picture of where she is coming from and what her beautiful country of Nova Scotia was like before it was

Another stellar, immersive read by Laura Frantz. The real history behind this story was very sad, but the story was told with beauty and hope. Looking forward to the novella about Bleu to be released next year.

Another masterpiece by Laura Frantz! When it comes to historical fiction she is the absolute best!

I always learn so much from her books!

She weaves words so poetically with extraordinary skill.

Add to the rich historical education and the poetic beauty, the evident sense of the author’s heart - one that loves the Lord God and knows His Word - That is why she’s my favorite historical author!

Sylvie’s story will live forever in my mind, what a beautifully satisfying end for her and Will!!! I’m ok

It has been a couple of years since I have read a book by Laura Frantz. I had forgotten the slow build of suspense and the absolutely beautiful detail Laura uses in her writing to place you right where the story is taking place. I found myself wanting to visit Acadie.

What the people of Acadie were put through is nothing short of horrifying and heartbreaking. I cannot imagine being forced from my home the way they were and being made to start over, unsure if I would ever find my family again.

Historical Acadian Life well portrayed

Life in Acadie (Nova Scotia) was hard, but there were joys too. Until Aug 1755. The part about the expulsion was taken straight out of history. Sylvie ends up in Virginia and life is still hard, but Sylvia has a positive outlook on life. Good Character development and historical day-to-day life was well portrayed, even a thread of faith and light romance. Some surprises to look forward to. I really enjoyed the book, as it brought home to me what life may hav

If you are new to Laura Frantz, I will tell you her novels are layered, intricately woven, unhurried gems that will leave you will a full heart, and the deep level of satisfaction readers get from a novel exquistely written. I've read every single novel she has published, and I've loved them all! She is definitely one of my favorite #GuaranteedToRead authors and I count down the days to her next novel every year.

The Seamstress of Acadie is like a warm cup of mulled cider; easy to read, full of

The Seamstress of Acadie is a fascinating look at the story of the French Acadians who were exiled from Canada in the mid-1700s. I had heard that’s where the Louisiana “Cajuns” originated from all those generations ago, but I didn’t know much about it. I loved learning more about that piece of history (although this novel ended up in Virginia rather than Louisiana).

Author Laura Frantz makes the colonial period come alive with relatable characters and many details I hadn’t considered before. It’s
