River pirates and showboats, what else could you want? Oh romance? Well don't worry this book has all three. Showboats have always fascinated me, so I love how this story was set on one. Emmett Carter has run into some bad luck with river pirates stealing his steamboat. He then finds himself on a showboat and meets Anola Flynn who is a singer on the showboat. What a unique setting for the start to a new series. River pirates, a show boat, and the Mississippi River. Add to that the cast of unique characters and you have the recipe for a good story!

I enjoyed getting to know Anola and her family and watching her relationship with Emmett grow.

As we learned more about the pirates and Emmett’s brother I could tell there was more than met the eye but was not prepared for how deep the secrets went and how crafty the bad guys were.
