The story starts with Eli Ross returning home to Victoria by the Sea on Prince Edward Island, for the first time in ten years, with nothing to call his own except the clothes on his back. He returns with shame, and a secret regret that could hurt everyone he loves. We then meet Violet Donaghy, who has become an adopted member of the Ross family. And we learn that she, too has hidden secrets and shame. Will they both learn the power of sharing their burdens, and trusting God again?

What a truly spectacular read! This story tugged at my heart strings in all the best ways. Eli and Violet are fantastic characters and this story definitely did them justice. I had trouble putting this one down because I was so intrigued with their secrets and what they were. Boy did these two have a lot to overcome to find happiness. This was a beautiful story of finding mercy, forgiveness and love. I cannot recommend this story enough!

The Last Way Home by Liz Johnson is the second in her Prince Edward Island Shores series. Eli Ross left home eleven years ago, and is back. Violet has been working making pottery with Mama Potts for many years, but no one seems to know anything about her life before she came to Prince Edward Islands.
I was enchanted by this story of two broken people who must find a way through their brokenness. The characters were very relatable and the setting on Prince Edward Island was perfect. The author do ...more

Another great story from Liz Johnson. I love love love that she didn't sugar coat or excuse Eli's actions. His story is real and raw and a picture of how our actions impact more people than we realize.
Violet's story is just as real and raw. As a mom with grown children, my heart hurt for these two who felt it best to avoid family. When what they really needed was to allow their family to embrace them and walk through the fire with them.

This is the second book in the Prince Edward Island Shores series. The series is about the three Ross brothers, each of them gets their own story.
This book is about the prodigal brother. Eli Ross left Prince Edward Island to join the NHL. His family is heart-broken when he leaves and doesn’t keep in contact with them at all. A decade later, he’s headed home, and tries to make things right with his family, but Violet (his mom’s business partner) is not making it easy for him. The town is delight ...more

The Last Way Home was a compelling journey of love and forgiveness. I appreciate how Liz Johnson makes her characters flawed and believable but still incredibly likable. They struggle with tough issues and deal with them in a realistic way. I also enjoyed learning a little about hockey and pottery!

This was a fantastic book! There were so many great quotes but my favorite is, " We both have some shattered edges. But maybe God isn't afraid of our brokenness. I hope he's not anyway."
Continuing with the family of Mama Potts, hee estranged son, Eli comes home. He's been gone for 11 years and brings home major trouble. Violet has been working with Mama Potts for years. She is running from her past. After a fire almost destroys the kiln, Eli and Violet must work together and even let their heart ...more
