A historical story set in Ireland? Yes, please! I enjoyed this story set in 1920 Ireland during an uprising between England and Ireland for Irish independence. Anna and Stephen were likable characters and I loved Stephen's father Seamus. I also really liked that Stephen and Seamus owned the jewelry store and made the Claddagh rings. Learning about the history behind that was interesting and fun. This story held several surprises along the way and the ending was exciting and really entertaining. ...more

The Lady of Galway Manor is a stand alone novel set in the city of Galway, Ireland during the Irish War of Independence. The cover is stunning and I absolutely love it! This book was giving me strong "Far and Away" vibes. Titled lady and lower class Irishman, forbidden romance, attacks on the British landlords, titled people who lose their titles...it was all in there. Unlike Ms. Deibel's first book, A Dance in Donegal, The Lady of Galway Manor started off slow to me and took me a long time (lik ...more

This is the second book by Jennifer Deibel set in Ireland, in 1920. I enjoyed this one so much! Annabeth is such a likable character; I love that she kept her heart open to changing her beliefs about things she’d been taught growing up. As for Stephen, honestly it took a bit of time for me to warm up to him, but it made his change of heart all the sweeter. I loved Seamus! He is a great side character, as is Emmeline. I'd love to see her get her own story. I liked the setting of this story, in Ga ...more

Jennifer Deibel’s second Ireland-based historical romance novel again warms my heart and entices me to find a way, somehow, to travel to Ireland. Her vivid descriptions of people, sights, sounds, smells, and flavors have transported me, at least in my imagination, in both time and place.

The story itself is one of culture, class, country, and gender clashes in 1920. It is a reminder of how our vast differences can become divisive if we let them; but curiosity and willingness to accept and learn

The Lady of Galway Manor educated me about the time period this book is written in in Ireland. Jennifer Deibel put me firmly in the setting. I could hear and see the surroundings. The characters are well developed and the story engaging. I recommend this book.

I rarely give 5 stars but I think this book deserves it! My interest was captured right from the beginning and continued until the end. I love how this author incorporates God and scripture into her writing. It's truly inspiring.
Annabeth and her family move to Ireland. Her father is the landlord of Galway Parish. Being away from the British court, Annabeth soon becomes bored. She becomes an apprentice at a jewelry store. Stephen Jennings, son of Seamus the owner of the shop, wants to get away f
