3.75 - Impactful and thought provoking book. I am particularly impressed with the dialogue between the children. The author did a great job conveying that these children did not have a vocabulary or emotional maturity to communicate their frustrations and desires, however honorable or selfish, with each other. Interesting how even as young children, they have this innate need for order as well as chaos. Gave a slightly lower rating because the section before the culmination of the book slowed do ...more

A little boring since any sort of climatic events happen one after the after near the end. However, it is VERY interesting at this point. The prose can be annoying at times but I can see why this book, overall, is studied in class - a lot can be analysed.
