Goddammit Holden, you’re killing me. You really are!

This is the kind of novel that resonates differently at various stages of life. As a teenager, I loved this book because I identified with Holden – from the feelings of inadequacy, being misunderstood, loneliness and desperation to fit in to the ramblings, the looking for validation and self-esteem highs and lows … had them all. My old diaries actually sound like they were written by Holden, to a large extent.
