That was good. Great read xD

I loved the characters, the places, and the description. Neil Gaiman just has the ability to paint everything the way it is, but he also goes a bit too much into detail when the story shifts into a different perspective. I was much annoyed when the shifts became cloudy versus the awesome moments which were direct and filled with action. I suppose that the cloudy moments have to do with the times when we get a glimpse into the other planes of existence (those that are That was good. Great read xD

However, I even if I still hold a grudge against that (I kept falling asleep around those parts), the story itself was amazing.

The tidbits of other gods in the past made some of the storyline bearable. It's a bit sad that they stopped appearing after three quarters of the book, but I really don't know what Mr. Gaiman was aiming for right there, the climactic scenes that led to the overall climax (the "war")? Anyway, I totally loved how he kept the mythology and made it his own :)

I can't really say the book itself was amazing, because it tried. It really tried to embrace all these elements, all the gods mentioned and the topics of immigrants and human nature and belief. I personally loved the inclusion of those themes because they rang true, they really did. But it does feel like one book isn't enough to hold it all in together... which is probably why there are more books in the series.

Shadow was a great character to narrate around, his parts are more alive, more direct and easier to follow. Mr. Town was not (that poor, unsuspecting victim! ...Not); his character also felt incomplete (was he supposed to be very plain and indistinguishable? Oh, yes, he was a background and supporting character).

The names and the stuff behind the names = ohmygoodness, kudos :D ♥ I loved them. I loved Mr. Nancy and Czernobog :) And I loved the supporting characters in the subplot about Lakeside. :)

The characterization of the characters, especially the additional background info of their personalities and character, were very helpful and much liked about all the other characters besides Mr. Town (who was annoying and I guess there goes my dislike for a character, right there with that one). The new gods themselves were interesting despite the worst of them :) But yeah.

I'm going to stop right there because there is no right way to go about how I loved this book xD The book itself is full of a lot of stuff: a lot of places, a lot of characters, and a lot of themes. I loved it, and the ending summed it up real good ^______^

Was a great read for an adult novel.
I'm just ashamed that it took me so long to finish it. xD I'll blame finals and holds on library books. But much thanks for having created and written this book, Mr. Gaiman. :D It must've been challenging, but omg, it's actually a really great read (: ...more
