4.75 STARS! This book set the precedent and bar high as my first read of 2024. The lyrically composed words that were shared between the main characters have a resounding impact. I have never read such a book in which the characters love each other as much, which is evident even among the secondary characters. 4 stars. The plot of this one was better than the first in my opinion but WHY DID IRIS AND ROMAN HAVE TO BE SEPARATED FOR SO LONG 😭😭😭 I also cried multiple times reading this one. This ending was happy enough but not AS HAPPY as it could’ve been (if you read it you know) and like why was that part necessary. But still this book made me like the duology more and I really was unable to put this one down

I was so eager to read this book that I started it as soon as it was released! And I only didn’t publish the review straight away because I was waiting for my physical copy, this perfect SE from Fairyloot. One of my most precious possessions 🥺
Although it wasn’t a 5⭐ read like the 1st, it was such a good read, makes this one of my fav duologies ever!
After how the 1st book ended, this one started in an unexpected way, at least for me. It starts off very calmly something that quickly makes sense. After how the 1st book ended, this one started in an unexpected way, at least for me. It starts off very calmly something that quickly makes sense. As you’d expect, Iris and Roman are separated for much of this book, but they’re one of those couples where you don’t really feel them apart no matter how much physical distance there is. The romance is still so evident, very much because of the incredible bond that these two have and that I love so much, a bond that surpasses everything and that exudes through the pages of the book! The good thing about them being separated is that we get back to the enchanted letters that are the essence of this story hihihi In this 2nd book we also get a better understanding of the war that was more in the background of the 1st book, we get to know the two gods involved and unravel the mysteries surrounding them and the origin of the conflict. But, in my opinion, the world lacked a little more complexity to enrich the plot, it lacked a stronger sense of magic to reinforce the fantasy aspect and affirm the book as part of the genre. And that’s why I consider this 2nd book not as good as its predecessor, it lacked something more as a conclusion, it lacked complexity and even the addiction as strong as I felt in Divine Rivals. The 1st book ends up serving as an introduction to the world, making us expect more from the 2nd in the remaining aspects, which wasn’t entirely delivered.
Despite this, I loved the conclusion of this duology, the story of Iris Winnow and Roman Kitt will stay with me forever as one of my favorites, one of the best literary couples ever!

Wow.
This was well-written, to start with—poetry infused with everyday language.
I was drawn into the story even though the first book was not the gut-wrenching romance I had anticipated. Themes-wise, I think YA and fantasy are more prevalent. I felt that this was a fitting conclusion to the series.
The tale of Iris and Roman reminded me of Taylor Swift's Timeless. "Even in a different life, you still would've been mine. We would've been timeless." ...more

I refuse to rate this book for the simple fact that it took me multiple months to finish and I skimmed through the last 20%. I’m leaning towards not liking it but I loved the first one so much that I feel like I didn’t give it a fair chance. I’m blaming it on being in a ready slump. I think if I were in a different head space I would have like this book but I found myself rushing to finish it so I can move on to something else. i am so emotional right now. in 2023, i started this duology and absolutely fell in love with the story, the characters, everything. then this book was released and i dnf'ed it. now, 1 year and 4 months later, i have finally reached the conclusion. and it absolutely pains me to say that this book wasn't amazing. let's discuss.
