Ever since I read fallen crest series by Tijan and loved it, I have jumped on anything new coming out by Tijan.
I was slightly disappointed with this stand alone novel because it feels slightly more rushed than anything I have read by Tijan before. I love her writing style Tijan has the ability to creatively write stories that pull you in and a story you can connect too because of her realistic element to the story.

I went in blind with this book and I recommend this. I loved the ****4 STARS****

I went in blind with this book and I recommend this. I loved the characters and how they were portrayed.

Kennedy is starting fresh at a new university, she doesn't want people to know who she is and is happy enough to only let in a few loyal friends. With this new chapter of her lie comes ground rules that she has enforced herself to stick by.
1.no hot boys and no drama.
2.This was a new year, new school, and a new me.
Until Shay Coleman came along...

I feel this book is slightly messier than the other books Tijan has written, it feels rushed. There is small elements of the book that seem slightly off. The first part of the book it explains about characters as if we have read about them before and I felt like I was dropped into a storyline that had already started.
The banter, angst and storyline is intriguing between the two characters and this makes up for the bumpy beginning to the book.

“I’m laughing at how much I hated you in the beginning.”

Kennedy's hatred for shay did not come across clear to me, shay would tease and taunt Kennedy but it still didn't give a good enough reason to say she hates him that fiercely.
Also I found some of kennedy's reactions were slightly over dramatised, the moment with the balls was OTT and slightly unbelievable, yet incredibly entertaining.

At the beginning of the book we hear about an ex Parker and the effect he had on Kennedy. I'm slightly disappointed that there wasn't a more dramatic ending including Parker, it felt he had a big part of Kennedy's attitude and outlook on life but after a couple of pages explaining what happened between Parker and Kennedy that's it no more said of the subject, if it was that easy to overcome her issues with him by having a quick chat why did she wait so long?

Overall I enjoyed reading this stand alone book and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves Tijan's work. ...more

Chance worth taking

Shortly after I finished Tijan's other series, Fallen Crest (which is much beloved by me), I jumped right into this new world that she created and loved it. Kennedy has spunk and strength and determination to stick to her rules in college. But sometimes life can blindside you and make you break those rules. Kennedy discovers that breaking her rules is a chance worth taking. I'll always love my Fallen Crest family but I'm glad I took this chance on this book. ...more
