Okay, I took on this novel as a challenge because it’s so different from what I usually read. The beginning was hard to read. I was so bored and uninterested in where the plot was going. McBride continued to introduce more characters and more side stories that he didn’t ever expand on. I struggle to point out the specific things that didn't make the book good for me. For all the positive attention this book received it really just did not live up to the hype. It's a beautiful story about life and community... I guess? There is just nothing that I took away from the book no matter how hard I tried. ...more
