Ugh. This was a good romance. Serial killers?? I love a murder. I love a romance. Thank you Brynne Weaver for mixing the two. 😭 and they say Leather and Lark is better???? Time to consume Lachlan, babyyyy. 💕💕💕💕

Serial killer with morals…errr, standards I suppose? falls in love at first sight with a twitchy girl locked in a cage, presumably covered in her own urine and feces, with a decomposing corpse for three days and instead of just asking her out on a date, proposes a once a year trip for a game of catch the bad guy serial killer (not to be confused with their vigilante serial killing). Also known as 4 years of foreplay before their antic Goodreads….when are we going to get .5 stars?

Also known as 4 years of foreplay before their antics almost get Sloane killed so of course he realizes that playing their game of revenge Clue is dangerous and proceeds to bone her into the next week. Also, we hear him wax poetically about her body piercings. 7 of them are mentioned. I counted so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.

Some things that I don’t get- why is the internet losing its collective mind over orzo and cookies ‘n semen ice cream but not “beef” nicoise? People’s tolerance for the unintentional and intentional cannibalism in this one was a shocker for me. I really thought I was going to have to try and like a serial killer cannibal chef who was using his restaurant to dispose of bodies by feeding it to unsuspecting patrons. Thank you Brynne Weaver for not making me do that. It would have been a tough sell.

Am I convinced that they’re actually in love with each other? I’m not really sure why they are, actually, other than they have the same weird hobby. Do I hate them together? Nah, but this was a very middle of the road romance for me from the romance perspective. I didn’t get that sweeping, stomach dropping, heart clenching feeling with this one.

I will say, I struggled reading this. Reading the inner monologue and the dialogue between Rowan and Sloane was tough. I only finished this because the audiobook saved this story for me, and I will likely just listen to Leather and Lark simply to get more Irish accent.

Also, Rowan, Lachlan, and Fionn can all be played by Ed Speleers and you can’t convince me otherwise unless we can make Cillian Murphy work for Lachlan. ...more

I didn’t pic this book up several times because what I knew about the premise I just thought ‘ehh not for me’. But one bored night I went for it, and I’m so glad I did! I love a good easy read. This book is straight to the point. It’s got crime, it’s got romance, it’s got spice. It packs a punch. And sometimes that’s exactly what I want versus a long saga. That balance is necessary for me. I’d recommend.
