This is the first book in the Hunger games trilogy. In this first book we are introduced to Katiness Everdeen, who is the provider and protector of her family. So when her sister name is drawn to compete in annual Hunger Games, where competors are picked ( sort of like a lottery)from each distract have to fight to the death. Katniss steps up and volunteers to take her place. I read this a long time ago, I enjoyed it, but for some reason I didn't continue with the trilogy. My second time reading
