this book was bad, like hallmark movie bad. i am just baffled by the reviews it is getting- like what are you guys seeing that i’m not? the writing quality was so poor, the themes and messages so heavy handed. and did she really use an octopus with internal monologues in the literal english language as a vessel for bringing the other characters in the novel together? i just gotta be real, nothing about this book landed at all.
the way this book had the potential to be great and make me cry happy tears but failed. Leaving it up to the reader to imagine and fill in emotion where there is none in isn’t what we like to see. So many scenes could have been really touching but the writing just didn’t deliver, overall a let down
I wanted to like this book but I did not. Characters felt flat and unbelievable and the writing just couldn't pull it off for me. Heartwarming though
