If I had to describe this book in one word it would be RIVETING! This is a powerful, emotional book. Incredible read that makes you feel so much! Starr is a character you will quickly rally for. I LOVED this book because it was just incredible.

Dnf. Too real right now. I finished it tonight (2022) Such an important conversation starter on human kindness and treating people equally.

Beautifully written book that shows the uphill struggles that black people often face. The narrator, Starr, is a 16-year old that I loved from the beginning of the book. Audio version of the book was wonderful. Characters are well-developed and very understandable. Author does a great job of showing how complicated life can be for people with one foot in the black world and one foot in the white world. Angie Thomas is a gifted writer.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.

A must read for everyone.
This book was someone using their voice to be heard in this big world and she definitely made a point. All the characters were endearing and the story was brought together beautifully.

If you want to know what it’s really like to be a young intelligent black person from a good family but living in a city neighborhood ruled by drug lords, read this book!
