I give it 5 stars for it's content & important warning/message...however...I think many kids would get weighed down by some of the lengthy, though symbolic, descriptions of the island. I read this as a child & to my children as an adult. We did a comparison with The Giver. Highly recommended...

Giving this one another go as some of my seniors read it for an independent novel study (this is my third time, but it has been about seven or eight years). It is one of the best books I've read and one of my personal favorites.
