There is a conflict between what I selected for 'my rating' and what I'm about to write under this 'what did you think?' section. That's because there are so many little things I COULD pick on, but at the end of the book, I was still left feeling good about having read it. Whenever I run into this issue, I find it best to resort to my favorite review style - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

I was a bit surprised at how much I liked this book. I really had put off reading it because Scandinavian Noir really doesn't appeal to me as a genre. I also am dubious of books that are so overly hyped and, really, nothing I had heard really made me HAVE to read the book. I'm glad I did now because it was a quite absorbing tale. No, it's not at all cozy and has some parts that made me a bit squeamish but I'm glad he made most of it come right in the end. He does tend to get bogged down in detai

Although I found parts of this book entertaining, I think it was generally over-hyped. I did not ever get caught up and have that "I can't put it down!" feeling. I think Larsson had too many story lines in one book, some of them with quite obvious outcomes. This story could have been told in 200 fewer pages and still got the point across.
