Beautiful alternate version of the truth.

I finished this book about a week ago but am slow to write a review. Not because I didn't enjoy the book, but rather because I really can't seem to find the words to describe how hauntingly beautiful this story is. Gaiman is simply fantastic in his telling of this little boy's story. It is the first book I read by Neil Gaiman but I am sure it will not be the last. It is beautiful and hopeful and melancholic. It made me feel less alone.

I am dealing with my own demons and this just goes to show that you can overcome them. You have to be brave, you have to believe, and you have to see what is inside, not the outside wrappings. I love that Lettie's glow is a bunch of little lights ~ snippets of hope? ~ rather than a bonfire! ...more

What a strange tale. I'm not sure I expected the strong fantasy elements but enjoyed reading something different. 3.5 stars
