I didn't purchase this book, I won it...however, I would have bought it eventually. But I didn't have to, so woo-hoo for me! Now, to the review:
I enjoyed this book quite a bit! Being that it was first published about 50 years ago, I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was hooked from, "It was a dark and stormy night."

I had read this as a child and remember it rather confusing me. I thought perhaps I would appreciate it more as an adult but I was still left with some puzzlement and a bit of a feeling of being let down. Maybe as an adult I've become too jaded and have watched too many Dr. Who episodes but I found the time travel/space travel a bit boring and I thought the ending just too quick and abrupt. I remember really loving these books as a kid and I think they still hold up well. For the 1960s this was wild stuff, with particle physics being a huge part of the plot, mixed in with God, feelings of disillusionment and realizing that parents can't always protect you. I never noticed as a kid but Calvin is the worst. The amount of times he calls Meg a "dope" or something similar is a crime.
