I've somehow never gotten around to reading this book, and with the recent publication of Go Set a Watchman... I clearly needed to play catch up.
And, wow! I sure am glad I did. This is practically a case study in the sociology of racism in the deep south of Alabama. Eloquently told from the innocent viewpoint of a precocious eight year old girl, the story displays the deep-rooted prejudices that folks have against folks. ...more

This is my ULTIMATE favorite! Wow...I just couldn't stop being excited. I loved the children's adventures, the mysteries, lawyer-father Atticus's advise and calmness, an excellent example of humanity at its best & worst, an excellent example of writing at its best. I actually listened to it on audiobooks, with Sissy Spacek reading...a bonus treat.
