Growing up with Kubrick's interpretation in movie form, I found the novel fascinating in depth and variation of themes allowing both mediums to co-exist in harmony. I consider the novel more of a drama than a thriller, with a richness to the characters that Mr. King fully utilized.

I loved this book! The movie was scary but the book is SCARY! the combination of the movie scenes in my head as I read and the incredible background the book provided amped up the fear factor! A great late night read or not...
