From the book jacket: Sam and Clementine have a wonderful, albeit busy life. Clementine and Erika have been friends since they were little When Erika mentions a last-minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate. Two months later, it won’t stop raining, and Clementine and Sam can’t stop asking themselves the question: What if we hadn’t gone?

Another success for Liane Moriarty who is definitely one of my favorite contemporary authors. I don't read a lot of contemporary fiction, but Moriarty has really pulled me in. Her hook, which is the reason many people don't like her, is that she holds the big event back, the event that most authors would start the book with, until way late in the story - in Big Little Lies the reader doesn't even know who was killed, much less who killed him/her until the end of the book. I think it is great. I

I enjoyed the way this came together but, I have to admit that I thought that the main characters (adults) were selfish and self-centered. I didn't really like any of them. I felt bad for the kids that had to have them as parents, honestly.
But I can't fault the way the book was written and the way the author was able to weave in the most trivial things to make them important to the story.
I think I may not have picked the best book to use as my first taste of this author, so I will try ...more

Am I getting jaded or burned out on thrillers? I don't think so. I've read quite a few by this author and have enjoyed some more than others. I truly wanted to love this book ut something was missing.....It was good, held my attention and kept me turning pages but...................I liked rather than loved this book. I will keep reading her books and am looking forward to the highly praised Husband's secret.
