At over 700 pages, this is a huge book and was one of the reasons it was in my tbr-pile for so long (I always fear the biggies will start to bore me halfway through!). The last thing it was though was slow or dragging - it zipped along at a great pace, was never slow or boring, and was just sheer apocalyptic delight!! Right up there with the likes of Justin Cronin and James Kunstler and, of course, his dear old Dad's legendary the Stand :) Can't recommend it enough! ...more

My first read by this author. I wanted to love this book, and parts of the book flew by, others, however dragged. And yet again I must mention or question why do authors put animals in stories if there is no real point to it? Shaking my head and if it wasn't a library book I would have thrown it at the wall for that section. that said, I will be reading Heart Shaped Box soon and holding my breath hoping it will be more satisfying overall.

this was a very good book. I was not let down by another great book from a great author. there was a bit of adult language in this book so if your easily offended by such words this may not be the book for you but if you can overlook them than I would highly recommend this book. Yes it is a door stopper of a book but the story keeps you interested and at the end you feel like you just departed with some good friends.
